Photo Tour August 2014 : Flinders Ranges South Australia

Dated: 30 August 2014

I have just returned from a week in the Flinders with Len Metcalf and a small group of people. We had a great time photographing throughout the region and saw an abundance of wildlife whilst out and about through 4 wheel drive tracks and gorges. I enjoyed introducing the group to a few of my favourite spots.

My approach on this trip was a little different on this trip as we couldn’t always shoot in the best light or at sunrise and sunset which I am used too being able to do. I chose my subjects carefully due to harsh shadows and sometimes flat light and still managed to capture a few really nice shots. The challenge was a great one to get me out of my comfort zone and also explain to the others the differences in quality of light and how it can dramatically effect a scene and transform it.

As well as visiting places you have never been to before having local knowledge and photographing and learning about photography these trips are a great way of making friends and connecting to other like minded people and sharing information about all sorts of things like equipment and software and also travel locations. Its informative and fun and everyone is on the same page whether they are a beginner or a little more advanced it makes no difference everybody can take something away from these trips.

I am currently planning another trip back into the Flinders for October 2014 so stay tuned for the info if you are interested in coming along. It will be a small group only so there will limited spaces.

I hope to see you there……….

Lamington National Park March 2022

This workshop was extremely challenging with so much rain over the 3 and 1/2 days. Even when we caught a break alot of the tracks were closed or not accesable because of water flowing to heavily over crossings. We managed to get 1 day of mainly clear weather with a shower or two about. The […]
