Lake Eyre in flood again for 2015

Dated: 22 January 2015

I took this video just a couple of days ago and yes there is plently of water in the Lake and more still reaching it. Will it fill completely? is one of the questions I have been asked.

Well I doubt it as it takes a lot of water to fill it but it still has a fair amount in it and is definately worth taking a scenic flight over to see just how much is around. Come to Marree and fly over the lake Lyall the owner of the Oasis Cafe/Marree Roadhouse  has been running scenic flights for 25 years and knows this area better than anyone. He has great coffee, fresh produce, home made bread and cakes, pizza and meat as well as accomodation and licenced bistro and is the cheapest in Marree. Right now we have 2 planes owned and operated by local company Bush Pilots ready to go.

In my opinion the Lake is better when its partially full, from a photography point of view you can view many patterns and colours from the air and it is quite striking. There is water still running in through many of the local creeks including Stuarts Creek which I will post a video of a bit later.  I will be taking a flight over in the next few days so I will have some pictures to share both here and on my facebook page.

Hope to see you in the ouback very soon

This workshop was extremely challenging with so much rain over the 3 and 1/2 days. Even when we caught a break alot of the tracks were closed or not accesable because of water flowing to heavily over crossings. We managed to get 1 day of mainly clear weather with a shower or two about. The […]
